Service Description

If you own a rear-powered e-bike, particularly from a lower-end manufacturer, repairs can sometimes be more involved. While these bikes don’t often break during service, they can occasionally damage tools and, in some cases, require more detailed work, such as complete disassembly of the rear dropout for a tube replacement. Some designs are more complex, often due to scooter-like construction, making the repair process more time-intensive. For mid-drive powered e-bikes or front-wheel powered e-bikes with motors from reputable brands like Bafang, Bosch, Shimano, Yamaha, Pendix, Tongsheng, major bike retailers typically carry these higher-quality models. These bikes are built with ease of maintenance in mind, making service much quicker and smoother. For these, the tube replacement is part of my standard $20 service. Please note: I do not service scooters. Additionally, if you bring in a lower-end e-bike without a booking and need immediate service while waiting on-site, there will be an additional $40 fee on top of the $58 tube change, bringing the total to $98. A Note on Costs: Lower-cost e-bikes are becoming more common in the market, but their initial savings often lead to higher repair costs due to their poor adherence to design and engineering principles. It’s also important to consider that many of these bikes are produced under poor labour conditions with minimal environmental standards. Opting for reputable brands not only simplifies repairs but also supports more responsible manufacturing practices. Important: Before calling or booking, it’s helpful to know what type of e-bike you have. A quick check can tell you if it's rear-powered, mid-drive, or front-wheel powered.
